The Trident is a Tier 2 ship in Starblast.io which fires two parallel front-facing lasers at a moderate rate of fire. While its base lasers deal a relatively low amount of damage, this means that the Trident can fire continuously without losing DPS. When the Trident runs out of energy, it fires alternatively from each side. This ship's attack, unlike the Delta-Fighter, does not weaken with range.

As a Tier 2 ship, the Trident is not strong by itself and best used for mining and upgrading to the next tier. Due to its poor combative ability, it is not recommended to upgrade unless made necessary by an enemy confrontation.

Compared to the Delta-Fighter, the Trident is slower and deals less damage, but has markedly higher shields and shield regen. Unless the player can get a sneak attack and ram the opponent's Delta-Fighter, the Trident will likely lose, regardless of skill. Unlike the Delta-Fighter, the Trident does not benefit greatly from additional secondary pods, as its poor agility and abysmal DPS prevents it from making any significant difference in a team battle.

The Trident is one of the few ships in the game where fully upgrading energy regeneration is not optimal. Without upgrades, suppose it takes 80T time to mine 80 gems to go to Tier 3. With 1 upgrade, it takes 10 T + 80*6/7 T = 78.57 T to upgrade to Tier 3. With 2 upgrades, it takes 10 T + 10*6/7 T + 80*3/4 T = 78.57 T. Therefore it is best to upgrade energy regen once or not at all, since you might mine more than 10 gems at the slower rate. You shouldn't upgrade this ship in any other area, but if you still want to, then you should fully upgrade energy regen first, since 10 T + 81*6/7 T > 10 T + 10*6/7 T + 81*3/4 T.

The Trident is likely inspired by the Klingon Bird-Of-Prey in the Star Trek Universe, due to its resemblance.
